“Don’t Do This, Don’t Do That”
I know it’s not my place to say it, it’s just so obvious to me
We’ll see a very different summer, now that Jenny’s finally free
After 18 years of crying, living with that drunken fool
Her daddy almost broke her spirit, he’s got a desperate set of rules
He said, Don’t do this, Don’t do that
You better not make waves
I’m the cat of this house, you’re just my mouse
Better, Learn how to behave
Never let her be a child, even forced her hand at play
He always told her what to think and do, he told her what to say
He wouldn’t treat her like a lady, Ah but she knew deep down inside
That he was just one bad example, I don’t know how she kept her pride
He said, Don’t do this, Don’t do that
You better not make waves
I’m the cat of this house, you’re just my mouse
So, Learn how to behave
She said she’d love to find her lover, She really needs to find a friend
Time, has always been the teacher, The lessons came from the questions
That she’d send
When she finally gained the courage to hear the voice inside her head
I know It sounded so familiar, I think I know just what she said,
She said, Don’t do this, Don’t do that
It’s time to get away, You know 18 years is long enough, and I don’t have to stay
When you say, Don’t do this, Don’t do that
You better not make waves
Cause I’m the cat of this house, and you’re just my mouse
So, Learn how to behave
